- Abstract art
Abstract art does not try to show things as the eye sees them. It works with shapes, colors and marks, either simplified from a real subject or invented outright. Kandinsky came to it through music, and from about 1910 he made pictures now counted among the first fully abstract works. His three works here hang beside Mondrian’s slower road. Connected places: Munich · Moscow.
