Bartolomé Esteban Murillo
1617/18–1682 · Baroque · 6 works
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was the leading painter in Seville in the later 1600s and, for more than a century afterward, one of the most admired artists in Europe. He learned from the early Velázquez and from Zurbarán, painted celebrated series for a convent, the cathedral and the church of the Caridad, and handled paint ever more freely.
