Aelbert Cuyp
1620/21–1691 · Dutch Golden Age · 4 works
Aelbert Cuyp of Dordrecht, son of the painter Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp, was the great interpreter of the Dutch landscape in the Italianate manner. His early river views follow Jan van Goyen, but Utrecht painters such as Jan Both turned him to large Italianate landscapes. After he married in 1658, he seems to have painted little.
