1487–after 1567 · Chinese painting: Ming · 2 works
Xie Shichen (1487 to after 1567) spent most of his life around Suzhou. Little is recorded about his career, but the works that survive suggest he lived by painting, and the Cleveland Museum of Art sees in them the drama and anecdote of the Zhe school. In 1547 he traveled through Sichuan and along the Yangzi.
Original museum reproductions, with source records on every artwork page.
