Breakfast Still Life, Willem Claesz. Heda
Breakfast Still Life, 1647

Willem Claesz. Heda

1594–1680 · Baroque, Dutch Golden Age · 1 work

Willem Claesz. Heda lived and worked in Haarlem as a still-life painter, and was one of the originators of the so-called tonal, or monochrome, Dutch still life. His meals look abandoned, yet each is carefully arranged in a limited range of neutral colors, from pewter plates and glass vessels to an overturned jug.
