Suraju
Active c. 1560 · South Asian painting · 3 works
Suraju was one of the Indian painters of the Tales of a Parrot, made about 1560 in Akbar’s workshop. The Cleveland Museum of Art credits four of its pages to him, two inscribed with his name. Two show reworking: on one, figures were painted over and moved; another covers an earlier painting, as recruits tried a new style.
