Salvator Rosa
1615–1673 · Baroque · 8 works
Salvator Rosa of Naples was one of the least conventional artists of 1600s Italy. Mainly a landscape painter, he also painted portraits, allegories and scenes of witchcraft, made etchings and wrote satires. He worked in Florence in the 1640s before returning to Rome, where he died, and the painters of the Romantic movement later took him as a hero.
