Salomon van Ruysdael
1602–1670 · Dutch Golden Age · 2 works
Salomon van Ruysdael was, with Jan van Goyen, one of the main pioneers of naturalistic landscape in Holland in the earlier 1600s. Born in Naarden, he joined the Haarlem painters’ guild in 1623 and painted river and estuary scenes all his life, modest and muted in color at first and more elaborate later. Jacob van Ruisdael was his nephew.
