1596–1656 · Dutch Golden Age · 8 works

Jan van Goyen was one of the main pioneers of naturalistic landscape in early 1600s Holland. Born in Leiden and trained in Haarlem with Esaias van de Velde, he settled in The Hague in 1631. His many drawings show how widely he traveled in Holland and beyond, and in 1649 his daughter married his pupil Jan Steen.
