Gerard ter Borch the Younger
1617–1681 · Dutch Golden Age · 2 works
Gerard ter Borch, born in Zwolle and trained by his father, traveled widely in Europe and attended the peace conference at Münster in 1648. He created a new kind of small full-length portrait, and after settling in Deventer in 1654 he painted quiet scenes of people making music, reading or writing letters, with great care for satins and silks.
