Follow Armida’s outstretched arm to Rinaldo, then the knight’s pointing hand to the boat waiting on the water at the right.
The third scene is the turning point of the story: Carlo and Ubaldo have persuaded Rinaldo to give up Armida and return to the war. Bareheaded, with his shield back on his arm, he seems unsure as the two older knights point to the boat waiting to take them back to the army. Armida reaches out from her rock and begs him to stay.
