Marc painted these weasels in 1911, the year the Blue Rider began. He makes the animals orange red and the trees purple, green and orange. By 1936 the painting belonged to Bernhard Koehler of Berlin and Munich, and in 1955 it was shown with his collection at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
