Aliquli Jabbadar

Active Safavid dynasty (1501–1722), late 17th century · Persian manuscript art · 1 work

Aliquli Jabbadar was an Iranian painter active in the second half of the 1600s, under the Safavid dynasty. The Met holds his portrait of a Russian ambassador, Prince Andrey Priklonskiy, dated 1673 to 1674. In his Royal Horse Inspection the Art Institute of Chicago sees a new, closely observed Persian painting, with people drawn as individuals rather than types.
