Albrecht Dürer
1471–1528 · Northern Renaissance · 16 works
Albrecht Dürer worked as a painter, draftsman, writer, and printmaker in Renaissance Nuremberg. Travel in Italy deepened his interest in perspective and the proportions of the human body, alongside his close observation of plants, animals, and everyday materials. His woodcuts and engravings carried ambitious stories and intricate images to viewers far beyond his workshop. In these prints, line does more than outline an object: its direction and density create light, texture, depth, and the energy of a moving body.
