Find the crane by the little bridge at the lower left, then the two figures under the flowering plum and a third seated by the water at the right.
Flowering plum marks this leaf from Xiao Yuncong’s album of the seasons, painted in 1668, as early spring. The Cleveland Museum of Art says he painted from nature, drawing on the seasons, his travels to Nanjing and Yangzhou and his work as a designer of prints. His own seal sits under his poem at the upper right, while the red seals in the margins and lower corners belong to the album’s later owners.
