Follow the rider down the slope to the ferry boats at the water, then out across the sandbars to the far shore and its white roofs.
From the same Tōkaidō with Poem series, this view shows ferries crossing the Tenryū River at Mitsuke, as its title says. A rider in a broad hat sits on a packhorse at the top of the bank, walkers go down ahead of him to the boats loading at the water’s edge, and other boats are already out among the pale sandbars. Hiroshige’s signature stands at the left, beside the poem.
