Compare the two raised arms, then the mountains on either side: how closely does one half of the picture mirror the other?

A woman stands on a rock among mountains and clouds, facing straight out with both arms raised. The canvas is about two meters tall. Hodler’s catalogue raisonné lists it under two German titles, Der Tag (Day) and Die Wahrheit (Truth). It dates the painting 1899–1902, later than the museum’s date of 1896/98.
