Follow the curved green lines that sweep out behind the woman’s green cloak, then drop to the hand-drawn letters of the group’s name along the bottom.
Kirchner designed this poster in 1907 for the artists’ group he had helped found in Dresden two years before. It is a lithograph in green and gold, 80 cm tall. The small line of type at the bottom left names the Dresden printing firm Wilhelm Hoffmann. Kirchner printed almost all of his other prints himself, by hand and in tiny runs.
