See how the sheet is built from stacked bands, yellow shore, bare water, dark far bank and green hills, with a few touches of red to join them.
Dresden lies on the river Elbe, and in 1909 Kirchner and his friends Erich Heckel and Max Pechstein began working outdoors together at the Moritzburg ponds nearby. In this drawing of the river Kirchner used graphite and colored crayon. A boat with two figures floats in the middle, small people walk along the far bank, and green hills rise above.
