Charles François Daubigny

1817–1878 · Barbizon School · 13 works

Daubigny explored rivers and countryside through painting outdoors. A studio boat let him work along the Seine, Marne and Oise. His increasingly free handling of paint offered an example to the Impressionists, connecting this Barbizon room with the later landscape traditions nearby.
