Follow the slanting streaks of falling snow, then find the dead pig slung over the pack animal at right and the small spotted dog in front.
Goya made this small oil sketch around 1786 as a study for one of a set of tapestries of the four seasons, ordered for a dining room in the royal palace of El Pardo near Madrid. The design was to be enlarged to life size and woven at the Royal Tapestry Factory. Goya later sold the set of sketches to the Duke and Duchess of Osuna.
