Follow the near tree’s bare branches into the sky, then look across to the repeated trunks and their reflections on the opposite bank.
In this 1896 river view, Sisley places a narrow boat and a small standing figure between two groups of trees. The river opens into a pale distance, while repeated upright trunks hold the banks in place. Muted greens and browns connect the water to its wooded surroundings.
