Follow the light of the low sun past the ruined arch and across the aqueduct, then look down at the small figures by the water.
This large canvas, about two and a half meters tall, shows an evening landscape with a ruined arch at left, an aqueduct across a river and buildings on a rocky hill under a stormy sky. Small figures rest and bathe by the water in the foreground. Géricault painted it in 1818, the same year as the print of soldiers returning from Russia in this room.
