Find the bridge’s horizontal framework, then look beyond it for the faint towers of Parliament emerging through the haze.
The view comes from Monet’s window at the Savoy Hotel. Beginning in 1899, he made almost a hundred Thames paintings while concentrating on only three motifs: two bridges and Parliament. Repeating a limited set of views allowed him to examine the city through changing light, fog, and industrial atmosphere.
