Look for blue and gray within the snow, then compare the branching trees with the small upright figure beneath them.
Painted on a small wooden panel, this winter view shows Louveciennes, the village west of Paris where Pissarro lived. A limited range of cool whites, browns, and blues carries the scene. The dark trees and lone figure give the pale snow a sense of depth without a bright focal color.
