顎へ上げた手、朝顔を描いた団扇、髪から扇状に伸びる長い簪を見てください。
喜瀬川は、吉原の「松の葉の家」、松葉屋の遊女でした。歌麿は複数の連作で彼女を描き、シカゴ美術館には少なくとも三点があります。《五人美人愛嬌競》の1795～1796年頃のこの図では、櫛と長い簪で髪を大きく広げた姿を近く捉えています。上の丸い小窓には、煙管、矢、流れの小さな絵があります。
